If you are considering submitting a commentary or letter to the editor, here are a few things you should know. First: we don’t print anonymous letters; we need a signature. We also need the author’s address and phone number or e-mail. They won’t be published, but if we have a question, we need to be able to get in touch with you. Second: libelous or defamatory letters will not be published. Third: political letters must be received at least two weeks before an election. Fourth: in order to ensure our editorial/letter page is dedicated to a discussion of issues, thank you notes and letters should be run as an ad. Fifth: Please keep your letters concise, preferably 300 words or fewer. Commentaries should be kept to 700 words or fewer. Lastly: We reserve the right to edit for clarity or for space if they are overly long.
Guidelines for story submissions and photo captions If you would like to submit information for a possible story, or are sending us a photo for possible publication, be sure to include the who, what, when, where, why and how. Full names of those involved are vital, as is specific times and locations. Please provide phone numbers in case we need further information.
