Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will continue chronic wasting disease surveillance this year in high-priority areas known as Priority Surveillance Areas in northwest, southwest and eastern Montana. Hunters who harvest a deer, elk or moose in these areas are asked to voluntarily submit their animal for sampling to help gather additional data for that area. The Lewis and Clark County Commission’s decision to conduct voting by mail for the 2020 general election dominated the Sept. 4 Lincoln Government Day meeting, the first held here since June. Lewis and Clark County 911 Center received thirty-six calls for service during the week of Aug. 30 to Sept. 6, 2020. Deputies performed six traffic stops and one civil service in the Lincoln area. Three of those calls generated a case report last week: A Deputy responded to the 100 block of Spring Creek Lane for a report of a nuisance dog, Sunday, Aug. 30th. Danielle Cyr, Lincoln School's new pre-K teacher, attended school as a student in Lincoln from kindergarten through her senior year, and she's looking forward to her first year teaching. Leroy Blancher has owned L&L Custom Sawing for 26 years, after he and his dad, Len, purchased the sawing equipment together. Blancher was born in Great Falls, spent some time in Chinook, then lived in Helena from the 6th grade on. He and his wife, Linda, met and married in the Marine Corps more than 37 years ago. The 56th Annual Helmville Labor Day Rodeo wrapped up the Northern Rodeo Association season Sept. 6 and 7, with a shift in weather that presaged the coming change of seasons.
