Letter: Lincoln Rodeo Club vs Transparency

In my letter to the editor dated May 30 in the BVD, I was only asking for transparency. Let the people of Lincoln know what is going on.

I want the Rodeo Club to stay in Lincoln and to prosper, as does everyone else. The majority of the people in Lincoln are of the age that they cannot climb the hillside, so they do not partake of the rodeo, so you are losing attendance.

To answer your question, I have never put on a rodeo. If I did, I would keep the people informed of the expenses and the profits. I know there are hidden expenses and upkeep, as in any business or home. I know that you sponsor two scholarships.

I know that in 2015 you received $11,800 from the Forest Service.

I know that an article in the BVD dated June 9, 2016 stated that you replaced the chutes thanks to the Forest Service. The expense wasn’t declared in the story. I know that the five chutes and dump out were purchased at the Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds for a total of $4300.

I know that in 2017, the Forest Service rented the grounds from July 19 through September 20 for a total of $37,760, plus you received a nice graded and graveled repair on your road.

My two main concerns were some decent seating, so the elderly could enjoy the Rodeo in Lincoln and not have to go to Helmville, and for the transparency.

By the way, I volunteer for quite a few projects in and around town.

Hope everyone comes and enjoys the Rodeo
