Thanks for the Summer Pack Trip, Cyrs

Thank you, Bill Cyr, for donating a five days and four nights Summer Pack Trip in the Scapegoat Wilderness for the 2018 LFD Fireman's Ball Auction.

I won the bid! We put the word out about the trip to our adult children, and three daughters from Oklahoma said, "Me, Me, Me".

On Friday, July 13, we met Billy Cyr and Derek Perez at the Indian Meadows Trail Head. We watched them saddle the horses and load the packs on the five mules. After a briefing from Bill Cyr and a shove to get me in the saddle, we headed up the mountain with Derek leading the riders and Billy leading the mule string. After a little over two hours on the six-mile trail, we rode into camp. Some of us were more than ready to dismount.

We spent our days with some of our group taking day rides to Heart Lake and other places. A couple of our group rode over 30 miles during our time in the mountains. One daughter couldn't wait to get in that cold lake water. Some of us stayed mostly in camp and made short trail hikes.

All of us ate the good camp food to our heart's content. Derek rode out on Sunday to get back to work. Anita (Cyr) Fasbender and her daughter, Reagan, rode in and cooked the rest of the week for us.

We spent our evenings telling stories, playing Farkle and roasting marshmallows. Oh, and breathing in good mountain air while sleeping in tents on cots with mattresses.

I recommend it and would do it again.
