Mountaintop Musings: Debacle

Lisa and I have been on the road for over two weeks. It has been an awesome and wonderful trip. We have made new friends, renewed old friendships, and am getting to know and love our new daughter-in-law’s family. There has been a great spirit in all of our interactions with people. We have had nothing but friendship, politeness, and respect from people as we travel. People are genuinely excited about our Nation. It seems everywhere we have gone people are hopeful. There is a boom in construction from Helena, to Chatsworth, Georgia to Cleveland, Ohio. Yes, our economy is rolling along quite well. Heck even the traffic has not been as bad as we thought it might be!

The beauty of the Appalachian Mountains was as good as we remembered. The weather has been quite hot, but very little rain. It has been a refreshing time for sure. But as we draw near to departing, our hearts do long for home and the familiar settings of home. But unlike the refreshing time we have had, for many in our country these past two weeks have been full of turmoil, stress, and even hate. I, like probably most of you, have been disgusted and shamed by the debacle of the confirmation process of Brett Kavanaugh.

All politics aside, the way in which the deranged left-wing leadership of the Democratic party has abused, degraded and humiliated the family and person of Brett Kavanaugh and the Senate is atrocious. The respect and consideration we have seen and experienced is certainly not what the Kavanaugh family has been through.

Even our friends who lean left in politics are ashamed of how this has played out. The mishandling of this man’s confirmation process should get us average voters out in mass this fall and vote. Vote for people who might show some respect for the constitution, the flag, and the people. Vote for truth-tellers (if there is such thing in any party these days). Vote for people whose idea of a public career is 12 years of service then go back home.

The words and wisdom of Philippians 2: 3-4 are completely lacking in the Senate, especially the leaders of the Democratic party. “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.”

The whole manner in which the Democrats have fueled hate, anarchy, lies and disrespect for our Nation the past two years is appalling. It is not just the left, but the leadership of the Republican party is almost as bad. Talk conservative, but once elected follow a Democratic “lite” program. Let us cast off the chains of darkness and turn to the Author and Giver of Life as our source of strength and not the poison of the political systems that are ruining us! May God have mercy on us and we turn from our evil ways.
