Irvin Dunlap

Irvin Dunlap passed away peacefully at his home in Helena with family at his side. He now joins his loving wife Lorraine in heaven whom he gives credit for instilling his faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Irvin would have reached 90 years of age Oct.19. He lived a long and fulfilling life and was an inspiration to his family as well as others.

He was born in Helena to Irvin "Ted" Dunlap and Annie Sloan Dunlap on Oct. 19, 1928. Irv had one sister, Annabelle M. Glenn. (May 18, 1931-Sept. 12, 2016). He spent his early years in Lincoln before moving to Helena where he graduated from high school.

On August 23, 1952, he married Lorraine Sigety in the St. Helena Cathedral. They had six children- Deborah, Timothy, Richard, Michael, Marie, and Teresa. They also opened their home to Kay Kasperick Hinch as foster parents.

He spent his life working as bookkeeper for LP Barney Construction, American Sheet Metal, and the Federal Govt. Division of Disbursement. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, and baseball, but most of all his family activities.

He is survived by his children Deborah (Marvin) Tarum, Timothy (Marcia) Dunlap, Michael (Sara) Dunlap, Marie Dunlap, Teresa (Dennis) Simac and foster daughter Kay(Jim) Hinch. His grandchildren are Brent (Jennifer) Tarum, Tyler (Krista) Tarum, Angela ( BJ) Kemp, Marcus Dunlap, Michelle (DJ) Smetana, Stevie Rae Dunlap, Jordan Dunlap, Dalton Simac, Nicole Simac, Dustin Simac, Nick Hinch, Jessie Hinch, and Megan Hinch. His surviving great grandchildren are Chase Tarum, Josie Kemp, Jaxson Kemp, Leslie Tarum, Carter Smetana, and Jay Smetana. He also has many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Richard in 1972, his wife Lorraine in 2009, his parents, and his sister Annabelle Glenn in 2016.

Services have taken place. Irvin was laid to rest next to his wife, Lorraine, at Resurrection Cemetery in Helena.

Memorials in honor of Bud are suggested to the Cathedral of St. Helena, 530 N. Ewing St., Helena, MT 59601 or the Matt King Museum by making checks payable to the Upper Blackfoot Valley Historical Society with the notation "King House" and mail to Upper Blackfoot Valley Historical Society at PO Box 427, Lincoln, MT 59639.
