Lincoln teams end season at Western C tourney

The Lincoln Lynx basketball teams ended their seasons at the Western C District Tournament in Frenchtown last week.

The Lincoln girls started off strong with a Valentine's Day 45-29 win over the Victor Lady Pirates.

The decisive win set them up to face off against the District 13 C top seed, the Seeley Swan Blackhawks Feb. 15.

The Lincoln girls proved to be a tough team to beat, despite a commanding 25 - 11 lead by Seeley at the half. The Lady Lynx flipped the script on the Blackhawks in the second half, in the second half, outscoring Seeley 21-12, but they fell just short of the victory that would have sent them on to the 13 C title game, ending with a 37-32 loss. Alexis Cannon led the Lynx in scoring with 15 points for the game.

The Lincoln girls then took on the Valley Christian Eagles in loser out play, Saturday, Feb. 16. Despite trouncing the Lady Eagles with a 67-36 win at their last home game, the Lady Lynx fell to them with a 49-41 loss Saturday. Cannon was the lead scorer in the game with 20 points.

The Lincoln Lynx boys tenure at the District tournament proved shorter than the girls. The Alberton-Superior Mountain Cats trounced the Lynx with a 70-34 triumph in the first game of the tournament. Ryan Greenwood led the Lynx in scoring with 12 points.

The Lynx boys found themselves knocked out of the tournament Friday, Feb. 15 with a 65-32 loss to the Victor Pirates in a loser out game.
