Dear Dietician: Crohn's disease

Laura Broussard, the Family Nurse practitioner at Parker Medical Center, submitted her resignation to PureView Health center early last week.

Pureview Director Jill Steeley said Broussard will end her tenure with PureView July 12. Her last day of practice at Parker Medical is expected to be around July 1, but Broussard has not been finalized that yet.

Broussard is returning to Oklahoma, where she worked previously and where members of her family live.

“I have enjoyed immensely working with the people of Lincoln,” Broussard told the BVD. “It’s going to be difficult to leave the patients I’ve gotten to know and have built relations ships with, but my family has needs right now and I’m compelled to go back.”

Broussard began seeing patients in Lincoln in August of 2017, taking over for FNP Tony Underwood, who provided part-time services here following the resignation of Physicians Assistant Joseph Joplin in May, 2017.

Steeley said since Broussard’s resignation notice is so recent, they've only just started the process of finding a replacement.

“We called the temp agency to see if we could get Tony Underwood to come back, but we just signed the contract with them, so we have to wait and see if they can find someone who will be available,” she said.

The opening for a primary care provider in Lincoln has been posted on the Lewis and Clark County employment webpage and Steeley said they will post it to other recruiting websites as well. She said she will probably have to directly work with a recruiter to fill the position, however, since the primary care position at Parker Medical clinic has historically been a challenge to fill.
