Thanks for a successful first DAV of Montana Lincoln Fun Run

October 5 was an amazing success. We were all very happy with the show of support from Lincoln, Great Falls, Helena and Missoula. The ride was a little damp and chilly but the groups said it was a great day and they had a lot of fun!

The Fun Run paid high hand of $501 was won by Bill Gowen and he very generously donated half of his winning back to the DAV. Special thanks to Bill Gowen.

The Low hand of $334.00 was won by one of our very special residents, Bob Bushnell. Bob is one of our guys who was given an award in Helena for his many volunteer hours and his dedication to Lincoln.

Gayle Steinbach won the 50/50 for $147.

The DAV Fun Run was sponsored by several Lincoln Businesses, Bootlegger, Mountain View Co-op, Wilderness, Lambkins, Bushwackers and the Wheel Inn, as well as State Farm-Joe Mitchell, Pentecost Builders-Helena, Chase Natalie-Financial Advisor and the DAV, which supplied the very delicious Philly Steak Sandwiches prepared by our Lincoln’s Mama Jo.

We would like to thank all the Lincoln Businesses for their support with this event. A big thank you to all the bartenders and owners for their part in selling the fun run hands, to give people who can’t or don’t ride a chance to play and support our veterans.

All your efforts in selling these tickets raise two-thirds of the monies from the event, which gave the DAV $860. Added to the monies from 50/50 & donation, DAV Hat & T Shirt sales, we raised $1490, to help disabled veterans get to doctor appointments, tests and many other needed services.

Be ready for our second annual ride about this same time next year. We are planning a few new fun ideas to spruce things up a bit. Watch for information next fall.

We will also be doing a first DAV Snowmobile Ride this winter in Lincoln. Please watch for information.

Thank you all again!

Sincerely

Bonnie Christian and,

Kevin Grantier

Commander

DAV, Department of

Montana
