Hey Howdy Hey: "Mack" McInally

Be it Summer, Winter, Spring, or Fall, whatever time of the year you will see this young fellow of 86 out for his daily walk down through Lincoln.

Richard McInally, or Mack is what most know him as, moved to Lincoln with his wife Christine in January 1992. Pryor to that, Mack was in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 and for three and a half years, Mack ran the office for the Blue Angels.

When out of the service, Mack had worked for the Great Falls Gas Co. for more than 10 years. In 1968, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of Slow Pitch Softball team. He also worked for Montana Power for eight years. Here in Lincoln, he delivered the Great Falls Tribune for eight years.

I remember him most from when he worked at Handi-Mart from 1993 to 1995. He was always quick with a smile and a friendly hello. I always enjoyed visiting him when I saw him there.

Mack and his wife Christine have been married for 65 years. They have three children, all of whom have graduated from U of M and are working in their fields.

Mack's wife Christine had been a music teacher for many years in Lincoln. She was also a crossing guard for many years. Thanks to Christ for keeping all those kids safe. Mack helped at school too, he was on the school board for two years and was an AD for one year.

In 1996, Mack had a stent put in an artery so he could exercise more. Mack had a cardio machine until it broke on him. So, in 2000, he started walking. He walked two miles a day, 300 days a year only slowing down a bit in the wintertime. In the last two years, he has been walking 250 days a year. Honestly, in the last two years that I have been back, there hasn't been a day that I have not seen him walking, proudly displaying his University of Montana sweatshirt or his Lincoln Lynx sweatshirt.

You can always count on a big smile and a wave from Mack. From the ages of 9 to 90, Mack is a great inspiration to us all.

Thank you, Mack and Chris for all that you do and God Bless.
