Young volleyball team works on building blocks against Seeley Blackhawks

"A young team having fun" is how Coach Kurtis summed up the Saturday night volleyball match of his Varsity Lynx against perennial powerhouse Seeley Lake.

Three new freshman hitters are finding their place among the Lady Lynx volleyball family, steered by veteran senior co-captains Jenna Templeton and Andrea LeManna.

It takes awhile to unite as a family, but after a good showing against Granite on Thursday, a contest where the Lynx won some sets, the building blocks for future success are falling into place.

A supportive turn-out by the local fans filled the bleachers and harkened back to "pre-COVID" days. The local ladies seemed to feed off the crowd energy and played with a lot of smiles and enthusiasm.

It's hard to beat a big team that shows up with a whole JV and Varsity roster, but the Lincoln ladies gave their all.

The set scores, 12-25,  16-25, 10-25 only showed who won, not who tried their best.

Serving ace honors went to Kylee Copenhaver (3) and Jenna Templeton (2). Andrea LaManna was the "Kill Queen" with 12; most digs stats were racked up by Templeton, Copenhaver and Krymzen Dempster  with three a piece.

Lincoln faces off against Valley Christian at home tonight, Sept. 9, at 5:30 p.m. and takes on Augusta in Augusta Friday.
