Lynx JV boys edge out Granite 18-16 Feb. 3

Finally, a home bench of five players vs. an opposing team of five.

It was going to be a match game, after all.

The junior varsity players from both teams were young and energetic. The Lincoln Lynx J.V, when called up to bolster the varsity, are used to fighting it out with juniors and seniors who out-weigh and tower over them. Now the young Lincoln men had opponents in the Granite Prospectors who were more in their weight division.

In the low scoring, big D game, the fierce attacks of the JV Lynx

overcame the higher percentage shooting of Granite to pull out

an exciting 18 - 16 win.

Three eighth grade boys, Kayden Tybo, Roegun Dietz and Noah Barnett also double as varsity players, but this game was completely theirs.

Trever Tolan owned the key using his body size to pull down four rebounds and draw some shooting fouls. Kayden Tybo put up ten points, Roegun Dietz, with his six-foot, two-inch reach, polished his windmill defense and Noah Barnett added two points to the tally.

The JV win gave the hometown fans something to crow about in light of the varsity losses to the Prospectors later that night.

The varsity Lady Lynx fell 29 - 58 against a taller, stronger and more numerous Granite bench and the varsity Lynx men lost 48 - 71.

In the Lynx varsity game vs the Granite Prospectors, Teegan Tybo and Andrew Brown scored eleven each and Justin Fry contributed ten. The second half was evenly fought by both sides but the hometown slow start in the first half could not be overcome.

Both varsity teams took a loss during the Jan. 27 non-conference home games against the White Sulfur Spring Hornets, not surprising in light of the five varsity players who were out sick.
