Arts Council to host Empire Trio for night of entertainment

The Lincoln Council for the Arts is bringing the Empire Trio for a night of music and entertainment to Lincoln on Thursday, April 6th at 7pm. The performance, which will be held at the Lincoln Community Methodist Church will feature the Trio in conjunction with several local students and residents including M'Liss Weisner, Bill Quay, Elyssa Longson, Dick Birkholz, Diane Krier, Aubrian Van Winkle, and students from the Lincoln School.

The Empire Trio has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, The Redlands Bowl, as well as over 300 venues throughout the US, Canada, and the UK.

According to the performer's website, the Empire Trio features the lush and mesmerizing voice of soprano Erin Shields, the virtual and virtuosic David Shenton on piano and violin, who also happens to be one of the only musician to play the piano and violin simultaneously, and one of three very talented baritone / tenor musicians (which rotate depending on their performance schedules) Michael Kelly, Adam Cannedy, and Brian Giebler.

The mission of the Lincoln Council for the Arts is to improve and enhance the quality of life in Lincoln by providing cultural programs, workshops, classes, resources, and financial support to the arts in all its forms. The mission of the Empire Trio's Outreach program is to make classical music accessible to children of all ages by using innovative and amusing arrangements of well-known songs from many genres, often combining classical music with pop, musical theater or jazz standards.

"The two missions complement one another and seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring education and entertainment to Lincoln." Said the Arts Council Board.

In their outreach endeavors the Empire Trio includes fun historical facts about some of the composers and singers who made the songs famous and also tell humorous personal stories that the students can relate to in their own lives. Their intent is for their young audiences to walk away not only learning a great deal about the music they perform but also for it to be a fun, engaging and interactive experience.

As they continue to tour exclusively through the US, they are extremely proud to provide educational outreach concerts and masterclasses to children of all ages and economic backgrounds.

The performance is open to all ages and considered a fun family event. Admission is $10 for adults and children are free. For more information about the performance, please visit the Lincoln Council for the Arts Facebook page.
