A Purdy good game

Eighteen co-ed softball teams descended on Hooper Park last weekend as the 39th Annual Bob Purdy Softball Tournament got underway.

Tournament organizer Doug Richards said the teams had a great time and they all want to come back again next year.

Laurie Richards said two of the teams that had never been to the tournament before said they'll make a point never to miss it. "They had a great time."

Doug and Laurie continue to organize the tournament as they've done for years, but also sponsored a team this year under D&L Bussing. In keeping with the irreverent team monikers, their team was the D&L Window Lickers.

The Window Lickers lost to the Wheel Inn Sunday morning, knocking them out of contention for the Lower Division championship.

This year's lower division championship title went to Merica out of Helena, who bested Lambkins for the win. Wheel Inn took home the sportsman ship trophy for the division.

Across the park in the Upper Division, Stranger Danger beat out Red's Bar for the top spot. K&S Hydroseed earned the sportsmanship trophy.
