Break in at Hi Country Trading Post

The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Hi-Country Trading Post Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, reporting a break-in.

They reported a large amount of merchandise had been stolen from the store. A deputy responded to take the report. The deputy reviewed video footage provided by the store and took photographs of the area and evidence. The incident is under investigation and leads are being followed-up on.

If any members of the public noticed anything suspicious in the last two weeks around Hi-Country, or someone is trying to sell a large amount of new hunting gear, please contact Corporal Robert Rivera with information.

It is a good reminder for everyone in Lincoln to make sure buildings and vehicles are secure if left unattended for any amount of time. Lincoln is no longer "off the grid" and criminals are aware of our special little town.

Security systems can make or break a case and, at the bare minimum, game cameras should be installed if you plan on leaving for a long period of time. It's best to have cameras facing your driveway from the house and facing any entrances to the home or onsite buildings with expensive items inside.

Feel free to call the Sheriff's Office for extra patrols around your property if left unattended over the winter.
