Broussard marks a year at Parker as Pureview hosts Patient Appreciation Day

Family Nurse Practitioner Laura Broussard, the medical provider at Parker Medical Center, moved to Lincoln one year ago in the midst of forest fire smoke and hot, windy days.

Despite surviving an epic snowy winter, learning to snowshoe and driving through snow drifts, she says she loves it here. "This has been a wonderful year, full of great memories," said Broussard, adding that she's hoping for a little less snow next winter.

Coincidentally, Pureview Clinics is participating in the national "Patient Appreciation Day," a special day this week to show appreciation to the area-wide patients that keep them humming.

Friday, Aug. 17 is Patient Appreciation Day in Lincoln, a day for everyone to stop by for a treat, register for a drawing of a basket of picnic supplies and chat with the staff.

"I can't think of a better time to let all the patients of our beautiful medical clinic know what an honor it has been to serve as your local health care provider," Broussard said.

Pureview Parker Clinic is not as hectic as the last medical facility she served in in Oklahoma, and the extra time allows her to really develop in-depth knowledge of her patients and their medical needs.

"Personal relationships are very important to me," said Broussard, "and I appreciate that many patients have come back to Pureview Parker because of word of mouth recommendations from other patients. I want to thank everyone for their trust, friendship and support."

This summer has been busy with 12-15 area patients per day from Lincoln, Helmville and Ovando and walk-in vacationers with injuries or unexpected medical problems. The Clinic has some common antibiotics on hand and offers one day delivery from Helena for other medications.

Reflecting on her first year in Lincoln, Ms. Broussard says she has also been encouraged by the patients who are grateful that she is living here in Lincoln and has settled in to be a part of the community.

There are many activities to do in Lincoln and Laura has been busy attending concerts, the art fair, Envision Lincoln committee, huckleberry picking, and watching skijoring and dog sled races. Next on her personal to-do list is to learn photography.

"I need to get a real camera and find someone to show me how to get started," she said.

Even staying home to study for the advanced training courses she will attend at the Mayo Clinic and other venues can be enjoyable as she studies by the bubbling creek in her back yard. A native of Idaho, Laura says, "I love the seasons, even winter!"
