Dutton recognized in IR's 'Best of Helena: People of the Year' category

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton earned the title of “Best Law Enforcement Officer” in the Helena Independent Record’s 2018 Best of Helena contest.

Dutton, who has been sheriff since 2008, was recently sworn in as the sheriff and coroner this year after the County Commission opted to combine the two offices. According to the IR’s profile, Dutton has training in the National Incident Management System, attended the F.B.I. Command College, has completed the National Institute of Corrections course on Planning of New Intuitions and is a member of the Critical Incident Debriefing Team. Dutton also serves as Chairman of a regional mobile data consortium, is a board member of the Montana Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, chairs the State Tactical commanders’ advisory board and is on several governor’s appointed boards, including Private Security, State Interoperable Governing Board, the State 911 Advisory Council and the Montana Board of Crime Control.
