'Be a Guardsman' at Ft. Harrison in August

Helena – The Montana Army National Guard is giving eligible Montanan's between the ages of 16-32 years of age an opportunity to experience what being a Soldier is all about during an August recruiting event at Fort Harrison, Aug. 2-4 2019.

Coined, "Be a Guardsman", the Montana Army National Guard Training Center will host the event for anyone interested in becoming a Citizen Soldier, and allow attendees to the opportunity to train like a Soldier for a weekend.

In addition to serving their country and their state, National Guard membership brings educational benefits, healthcare eligibility, supplemental income, retirement benefits and it provides valuable leadership training and skills that directly help a Guardsman's civilian career.

"We are excited to offer the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a National Guardsman and showcase some of the training involved. Eligible candidates, to include those with prior service, will observe machine guns on our firing ranges, experience our virtual training simulators and military vehicles to include tanks and helicopters. Participants will also have the chance to challenge themselves on the confidence and rappelling courses," said Colonel Greg Olson, the MTNG Garrison Commander. This is a free event for all eligible candidates.
