Ovando goings on

The community of Ovando unveiled new signs along Highway 200 recently to celebrate the town's recognition last year as the 2018 Montana Community of the Year.

The town has a pair of community events scheduled for the next week that should give folks a chance to check the new signs out first hand.

Ovando will have tables throughout town Saturday, Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the Ovando Yard Sale. The yard sale will include local vendors and is open to folks from around the area, including Helmville, Seeley, Lincoln and beyond.

To take part, Call Deb Dillree at 793-3086 for more information.

Not into searching for treasures at yard sales, but have something more celebratory in mind? The Blackfoot Challenge is hosting their 2019 Ovando Block Party Aug. 14 from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Ovando. The block party honors the 26th anniversary of the collaborative organization's founding and features live music, two food trucks, a silent raffle and live auction and a Beer Garden at the Stray Bullet.

But if you can't make it on either of those days, you can always swing in for a quick round of horseshoes at the new and improved "Wendell Copenhaver Memorial Horseshoe Pits," next to the teepee and the sheep wagon.
