Lady Lynx snatch victory from defeat in St. Regis

It was almost criminal. Behind the whole game, the Lincoln Lady Lynx decided to steal their way to a win in the Friday night away basketball game against the St. Regis Tigers.

The varsity perp line-up featured Sophomores Alyvia Blotkamp with four steals and Jenna Templeton with five, abetted by Alexis Cannon with three grabbed balls and loud Lindsey Weisner with one steal.

The squeaker win, 23 - 21, wasn’t secured until the last minutes of the fourth quarter, when the tough defense of Weisner and Andrea LaManna allowed Blotkamp and Cannon to put up the winning baskets.

Coach Kurtis Janzen said the win was partly due to the amazing hustle and “in your face” ferocious defense of LaManna in the last minutes to prevent the Lady Tigers from scoring.

“Alexis and Sage were the true leaders the whole game. They kept the players in a positive mind set despite being behind from the initial tip off.

It was real leadership,” said Coach Janzen proudly.

Rebounding honors went to six-foot Cannon with 12 and Blotkamp with three, who managed to spring her five-foot-two-inch leap up among the tall timbers to wrestle down the ball. Scoring leaders were Sage Kamps who nailed two three-pointers early in the game, Cannon with six points and Blotkamp with five.

The next chance to watch the exciting action of the Lady Lynx at home is Friday, Jan. 24 at 4:30 p.m against White Sulphur Springs.
