A Tough Decision for Lincoln's Post #9

Lincoln's Post 9 of the American Legion held their monthly meeting at the Community Hall this past week.

We had all kinds of things to cuss and discuss. The two big things we talked about were Santa's Work Shop and Veterans Day.

We came up with a great plan for our portion of Santa's Workshop. We're excited to share it with our annual participants on Dec. 5. We're still working out the details of how we are going to get the gift kits out to everyone, but it will be so much fun for all involved!

The toughest part of our meeting this month was discussing and planning for our Annual Veterans Day Remembrance Program. We have done this program for twenty years now. We added a Chili Feed for the entire Lincoln and Blackfoot Valley Community a few years ago. It has been a day we all look forward to every year.

Our members and the majority of those who come to the Annual Veterans Day Program are at the age and stage in life that is considered vulnerable to health risks. After weighing all the current events and challenges and our current state of affairs, we have decided to modify our annual celebration.

Therefore, on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. please join us at Hooper Park to pay homage to our Veterans. We will render a Formal Rifle Salute; TAPS will be played and the Flags will be raised back to Full Staff. We would sure like to see anyone who cares to join us parked around the inner circle of the pavilion.

We will fire promptly at 11 a.m., so please plan accordingly.

We'll make extra chili next year to be sure to make up for the absence of the Chili Feed. Heck! We might even have cake!
