High winds batter region, cause power outages east of Lincoln

Larry Menard gets to work on removing a pair of downed trees that fell against the house at 715 Main Street, after wind gusts blew through Lincoln Friday afternoon. The home, now owned by Larry and Linda Menard, had sat unoccupied for several years before they bought and began renovating it over the summer. Linda Menard said they had planned to remove the trees regardless, but the winds beat them to the punch. The trees caused minor damage to the northwest corner of the building's roof.

High winds caused a power outage east of town Friday, Oct. 30.

The National Weather Service recorded wind gusts in Lincoln exceeding 25 mph between 3 and 5 p.m., with a 31 mph gust recorded at 5:03 p.m. West of Lincoln, Ovando saw gusts up to 42 mph, while weather.gov reported the Helena area that day saw gusts of greater than 50 mph.
