Hooper Park receives donation

Hooper Park in Lincoln recently received an anonymous $3,000 donation.

“They wanted half of it to go to the skatepark, enhancing the skatepark, the other half to the park itself,” said Nyle Howsmon of the Lincoln Park Board.

The Park Board plans to meet in January to discuss some of the options for the skatepark, which could include benches, potentially some shelter, as well as an improved parking area.

“We need some kind of better irrigation system there,” added Howsmon.

For the main portion of the park, Howsmon said there are several projects the Board is looking at for the future.

“We’d like to upgrade our electricity. We need to do some work on the RV pads, get a little more gravel on them, get them a little more level,” Howsmon said. “We sure can use the donations.”

Howsmon added that if groups are planning to use the park for special events, they should submit their reservations early, as he’s already received two reservations for July this year.
