Granite Prospector ladies steal the mother lode from Lady Lynx in Saturday showdown

If you think of Prospectors as lumbering, pudgy old gold panners, think again.

The visiting Lady Prospectors of Granite County High School were quick, wily and nimble on the basketball court Saturday night.

With enough players to field two complete squads, Granite never had to tire out their starting five, while the Lincoln Lady Lynx barely had five starters and one eighth grade lady, Krymzen Dempster, as a back up.

Though they were out-numbered, the five Lady Lynx starters are seasoned pros with years of varsity experience.

Led by senior Lindsey Weisner and junior Jenna Templeton, the Lincoln gals knew their stuff and played with intense aggression and skill. Weisner intimidates her opponents with a defensive yell in their face that can be heard in the next county. Templeton, only five foot three inches tall, can swing her elbows with the best of them. This Lincoln team showed that they are no push over!

Templeton had an exciting three pointer late in the game, but that was no match for the high scoring Prospector Ladies who posted up seven three-point goals on the way to a final score of 12 - 59.

Jessica Zarske led rebound stats with five and lots of physical play, which she seems to relish.

High scorer for the Lynx was Templeton with six points. Kylee Copenhaver and Zarske added three points apiece. Copenhaver and Zarske also stole the ball for Lincoln turnovers five times each. Thus ends the home game basketball season in Lincoln for this year, as both varsity teams travel to Districts on Tuesday.
