Lincoln Schools Question of the Week

How would the world be different if animals could talk?

"Well my dog doesn't like my cat so he would probably call him mean names. It would be awesome if my dog could talk. We would be best friends and we could just play together."

- William Simon, Pre-K

"If animals could talk we would see animals in the city shopping for different things."

- Kaydence Simon, Kindergarten

"If animals talk it would be amazing. We'd understand cats saying, 'LET ME GO!'"

- Emilia Barnett, 1st Grade

"My cat would be rude. I would get yelled at a lot."

-Kynleigh Dietz, 2nd Grade

"The world would be different if animals could talk because we could hear their conversations and know what they are going to do next. It would be hard to get food because they would say RUN! It would be weird."

- Wade Rolfe, 3rd Grade

"You would understand if they needed to go outside and you would understand if they wanted to play."

- Jax Meeks, 4th Grade

"The world would be different if animals could talk because there would be so many new inventions. Humans probably wouldn't have pets because their pets would talk back to them and then we would know their feelings. It would also affect the world's problems. For example, animals could have solutions to climate change or pollution. Also, it would be a lot harder to have food for humans. No burger, deer, elk, eggs, any meat really.

P.S. Imagine a human farm."

- Asa Lattin, 6th Grade

"I think there would be more understanding between us."

- Cayden Wagner - 7th grade

"If animals could talk, what would they do? Animals using human language would give them a fair advantage in being a part of human society. Animals would be working alongside humans making cars and creating great societies where humans and animals could live in the same room. It may seem far fetched, but there was one animal that could speak sign language in real life. In 1971, a gorilla named Koko was born. This gorilla would go on to learn and speak sign language with over 1,000 signs in her vocabulary."

- Logan Tams, 8th Grade

"I think there would be a lot more arguing."

- Wesson Dempster, 9th Grade:

"You could reason with animals."

- JR Tolan, 10th grade

"They could say 'Don't shoot me' before I shoot them."

- Justin Fry, 11th Grade

"People would be laughing more."

- Trenton Grantier, 12th
