Lady Lynx battle Valley Christian Eagles

Playing through a schedule that had the team playing three contests in one week, the tired Lady Lynx faced a large bench of Missoula Valley Christian Eagles on Thursday, Sept. 9 at home in Lincoln.

A Lady Lynx win in the first set, 25 – 19, seemed to surprise the older Eagle gals who had been looking for an easier victory.

Freshman setter Meah LaManna gave credit to the upbeat atmosphere in the home gym to the men of the Lynx varsity football team who had dressed up as cheerleaders in cheer uniforms and tutus to regale the spectators with loud and enthusiastic yells and stomps every time Lincoln scored a point. Think: intersection of pep rally and athletic game and you will get the feel of the evening! Several football players took turns donning the Lynx mascot costume to rev up the crowd with romps and high-five antics.

The Valley Christian ladies recovered their poise and easily took the next three sets, 20-25, 14-25, 14-25, but the Lady Lynx had their moments of sparkling play on the way to the final buzzer.

Kill Queen for the night was Andrea LaManna with seven, followed by Krymzen Dempster with five and Kylee Copenhaver with three. Andrea fired one ace serve and had two exceptional blocks, followed by Copenhaver with one block.

Some members of the team tested positive for COVID, forcing rescheduling of games. The next high school volleyball game is slate for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 1, at home against Victor.
