Letter: Deleting God

Letter to Editor

This message is for the ears of all the atheists living in America, as more and more of you teach your children that there is no God. And they, in turn, teach their children there is no God. The world is becoming a more violent place. Just look back at the last few years and you will see I am right.

I don't go to church on Sunday – I go to church every day. The last time I rode my snowmobile to the top of Ovando Mountain I touched the face of God.

I graduated from the Ovando Grade School in 1955. People came from miles away to attend the Christmas play. They came in one-horse open sleigh, they came in Model A's – the newest car in the parking lot was a 1953 Studebaker.

Every morning for eight years at the school we recited the Pledge of Allegiance ("one nation under God"). While in that school no one ever once told me I had to believe in God – but never, ever once did anyone tell me there wasn't a God. Hundred of children graduated from that school, and never once has one of them went out and committed an act of terrorism.

Guns, guts and God make this country what it is. By deleting God, you have put the helpless and the unarmed in harm's way. If my believing in God offends you (pardon the pun), then go to hell.

Larry Dillree
