Letter: Rosendale A Solid Supporter of Gun Rights

‘A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.’

The Constitutional right to keep and bear arms that is enumerated in the Second Amendment is not something that was written with the intent to be subject to exceptions. It wasn’t written to change with the times, but to stand the test of time. Our Founding Fathers knew how important this right was in their time, and how important it was to include it in the Constitution for the strength and security of our nation in the future.

At the end of the day, preventing law-abiding citizens from being able to possess legal firearms will do nothing to prevent criminals from committing horrendous crimes. The underlying problem we need to be addressing in order to prevent deadly shootings from happening is the mental health crisis that is sweeping our country. We know that the person behind the trigger is the one responsible for the tragedy that happens—not the firearm.

With renewed discussions about increasing restrictions on firearms and ammunition in Congress, I’m thankful that our representative in Congress— Matt Rosendale—understands how vital our Second Amendment rights are.

Thank you, Congressman Rosendale for your unwavering defense of our constitutional rights! I’ll be casting my ballot for Matt in this upcoming election!
