Lincoln Lynx Basketball Season roll up

The Lincoln Boys basketball Season has been a mixed bag so far, with the team racking up two decisive wins and four losses since the start of the season.

The Lynx, with a roster of 10 players this year, came out of the gate strong on Dec. 2. At the Tip Off Tournament in Hamilton, they took out they Noxon Red Devils with a 61-25 win.

The Lynx boys didn't fare as well during the tournament follow up game Dec. 3. As they played well but lost to Two Eagle River 59-41.

The Lynx regular season games began with a series of three home games.

They faced off against the Drummond Trojans in Lincoln Friday, Dec. 9. The Lynx played well during the first quarter, racking up 13 points to the Trojans 18, but found themselves reeling and plagued by turnovers during the second and third quarters as Drummond scored a combined 35 points to the Lynx 10.

Despite the deficit, the Lynx fought on through the fourth quarter picking up 11 points to Drummonds 13, ending the game with a 34-66 loss.

Kaden Riddle led Lincoln in scoring with 13 points and also topped in rebounds with three offensive rebounds and eight defensive rebounds.

The Granite prospectors rolled into Lincoln the next day, but the Lynx once ended the game 40-52 loss. The Lynx held the Prospectors to leads of only two and three points in the first two quarters, and matched them in the third quarter, but the Granite team widened their lead in the fourth quarter.

Riddle and Andrew Brown were the top scorers for Lincoln with 10 points each, while Roegun Dietz and Teegan Riddle were close behind with eight points apiece.

A mere three days later the Lynx once again hit the hardwood to face the Alberton Panthers.

The game gave the hometown crowd something to cheer about as Lincoln outmatched the young Alberton team throughout the game.

Lincoln got off to a dominating lead int eh first quarter, racking up 26 points to the Alberton's nine.The game remained a lopsided affair in favor of the Lynx. Led by the top scoring Riddle brothers, the Lynx trounced the panthers 71- 25.

Teegan Riddle led the team in scoring, shooting 66% percent form the floor and racking up 20 points. Kayden Riddle added 17 points, while Andrew Brown added 11 and Roegun Dietz contributed eight, followed by Nils Wittman with seven, including one of the team's three-pointers.

Before heading into the Christmas break, the Lynx traveled to Seeley Lake to face the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks. Although the Blackhawks dominated during the first half, the Lynx rallied in the second half and outscored the Seeley team in both final quarters. Unfortunately for the boys, it wasn't enough to overcome their early deficit and they ended the game with a 38-54 loss.

The Lincoln basketball season is slated to resume with an away game to White Sulphur Springs Jan. 5 and a home game against the Darby Tigers Friday, Jan. 6.
