Obituary: Judith Diane Jones

Judith Diane Jones was known to all as Judy and so help you if you called her Judith or made fun of Joe Montana. She was born in Bremerton, Washington to Lillian and Willard Eaton. Her dad was a Navy Man, and she grew up as a Navy brat and proud of it. Because he was in the military, she moved around quite a bit from California to Guam.  So, if you said you were from California, so was she, but her first love was the Mountains of Montana. She finished her schooling in Lincoln, Montana, where her mother had been a school teacher.

While working in Helena, Montana she met and married Earl Dimmick and they moved around for his job. His parents were from Valley Center, so they and their 4-year-old daughter, Sandi Dimmick, moved to Newton, Kansas in 1972.

Judy worked at almost every bank in Newton and if you were her customer, chances are you were greeted with a smile. She also worked at Bunting Magnetics for several years where she made a lifelong friend, Eddie Laswell, who was loved like family by all of us. Eddie opened his home up to our crazy family on multiple occasions and could be counted on to watch the dogs when they went on vacations.

After her divorce, she met and married the love of her life Duane Jones of Peabody, Kansas.  Duane had 2 children, Michael and Kimberly so we became a blended family. Then came their surprise child Crystal Dawn Jones, who from the minute she was born, had us all in love. The new term in the house was his, mine and ours.

Her door was always open to friends, family and many strangers, she would feed and help them if she could. Sometimes an ice cream bar did wonders.

Judy, an avid reader, which if you ever got to see her library, you would agree, instilled a love of reading to her children and as many of the grandchildren and great grandchildren as she could. If any of the kids were around, she would almost always ask if you wanted to play a game with her.

Some of their fondest memories are at her house either playing in the pool, doing a jig saw puzzle while watching a Disney movie, playing a game, or hanging from the circular staircase. If you know the circular staircase, you either climbed it or hit your head on it, but it always made an impression.

Judy will be missed by many and if you have any pictures or a story you would like to share, the family would love and appreciate it.

Judy has gone to join her husband Duane Jones who proceeded her in Death in 2018.

She is survived by her daughter Sandi Dimmick-Dolata and son-in-law Christopher Dolata grandchildren Tara Janzen and husband Jason Janzen and Jessica Layne and great grandchildren children Lucas, Aiden Janzen, Kade Robertson and Jonathan Castaneda.

Her youngest daughter Crystal and son-in-law Josh Gill and grandchildren Willow Heubach, Brooke and Meadow Gill.

Her step-son Michael and daughter-in-law Kristie Jones and grandchildren Ronan and Soren.

Her step-daughter Kimmy and son-in-law Curt Morris and grandchildren Jayme and husband Micah Pomplun and great grandkids Khole, Madison, Kinlee and Kenna. MaKenzie and husband Zach Timmermans and great grandchildren Jackson and Johnathan. Grandson Johnathan Parker Gordan Bacon who went before her.
