Join the Helena Youth Corps

HELENA, Mont. – March 5, 2024 - The Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest has partnered with the Montana Conservation Corps to offer five AmeriCorps positions that would serve together as part of the newly formed Helena Youth Corps.

"We are excited about this new partnership and hope to better engage young adults in meaningful work experiences across the forest," said Recreation Program Manager Rory Glueckert. "One of the projects interested applicants may work on is preparing trails in the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness for the 75th anniversary memorial of the Mann Gulch Fire this August."

Individuals aged 17-18 are welcome to apply. Members will receive a living allowance and education award provided through AmeriCorps. While participating in the Helena Youth Corps, members will report in and out of Helena between June 17 - August 15 to complete four conservation-oriented projects throughout the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. Each project entails camping for the duration of an 11-day hitch. Project work is physically demanding and could include trail maintenance and construction, habitat restoration, planting, and more. Participants will learn valuable career and technical skills while strengthening their leadership abilities.
