Montana governor declares southern border emergency, says 10 Guardsmen will provide assistance policing cross-border drug trafficking.
Mission, TX - Gov. Greg Gianforte and nine other governors from across the country received a briefing on the U.S.-Mexico border from law enforcement officers, toured the southern border, and provided a ten-point plan to resolve the crisis on Oct. 6, 2021.
Gov. Greg Gianforte announced Tuesday that the state is deploying a small number of Montana National Guard troops to the nation's southern border, describing the action as an effort to help the state of Texas police cross-border drug trafficking in light of what he described as inaction by the federal government.
