Lincoln Council for the Arts discusses events, fundraisers at August meeting

The Lincoln Council for the Arts discussed the Lincoln Arts & Music festival, along with some upcoming events and their current fundraisers at their monthly meeting on Monday, Aug. 19.

In keeping with their mission, they also discussed various ways to bring art-related functions and programming to the school and community.

One possible new endeavor may involve a collaboration with the Lincoln Branch of the Lewis & Clark Library. Kate Radford, the new librarian attended the meeting and shared some ideas the Council will discuss moving forward.

The Lincoln Art & Music Festival committee, headed by Karyn Good, Ron Gibson and Sue Tynes, gave a recap of the event that partnered with the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce CDT Celebration and Trail Day. Except for the weather, they said the event seemed to do very well. During their recap, Good announced her resignation from the committee. Good has been instrumental in bringing the festival back to Lincoln and helping it grow to the success it is now. The Arts Council is now seeking volunteers to join the committee and help out as plans for next year's festival move forward.

Two fundraisers the Arts Council is working on are their annual coupon book sales and their ongoing coloring book sales. Coupon books sell for $10 and contain more than $200 in coupons along with raffle tickets for local and area businesses. Coupon books can be purchased from any Arts Council member, at the Wheel Inn, or at Lambkins Bar. Coloring books are also $10 and feature artwork by local artists. They are available for purchase at Teresa G's Flowers, Citizens Alliance Bank, Rusty Relics, Grizzly Hardware, Hi Country Trading Post, The Variety Store, and the Forest Service.

If you would like to have coloring books available in your place of business on behalf of the Arts Council, please contact Tammy Jordan at 406-633-0073 or via email at [email protected].

An upcoming event in Lincoln brought to you by the Arts Council is a concert by the Montana Shamrockers planned for Thursday, Nov. 14. They will be performing for students at the school at 3 p.m., with an additional performance for the community at 7 p.m. at the historic Lincoln Community Hall. The concert is open to all age ranges and parents are encouraged to accompany their children to the evening performance.

The Lincoln Council for the Arts is a public, non-profit corporation whose goals are to improve and enhance the quality of life in Lincoln by providing cultural programs, workshops, classes, resources and financial support to the arts in all its forms. Annual events hosted by the Lincoln Council for the Arts include Santa's Workshop, the Barn Dance, the Lincoln Art & Music Festival, and the Community Hall dance.
