Citizen’s Bank hosted a retirement party last week for long-time employee, Jewelie Hoxworth. After 14 years with the bank, Hoxworth decided to retire from her position to be home more and to help care for her mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
While she had not planned to retire for another five years, she just felt it was time.
“Mom has been living with us for two years now and she just needs more help.” Hoxworth said. She explained that juggling the demands of work and caring for her mother has been difficult, and said she worries about her mom, especially in the winter.
Hoxworth also plans to help more at her church, The Blackfoot Church in Ovando, and says she is looking forward to being able to do so.
Julie Zarske, the only other staff member who has been with the bank as long as Hoxworth says she is really going to miss her. “I’m going to miss her smiling face and always putting up with my giving her a hard time.” Zarske said, and added, “It’s just not going to be the same without her. When you work with someone for that long, they are like family.”
Hoxworth has been at the bank through many changes, especially the transition from The First Bank of Lincoln to Citizen’s Alliance Bank, but says she sees those changes as good things.
Hoxworth says her retirement is happy and sad in a way and added that it’s hard to say goodbye. “I’ve really enjoyed working here. Lincoln is such a great little town and I am going to miss it and seeing everyone. The crew we have now at the bank is fantastic and I love working with them.”
Hoxworth is going to miss seeing all of her customers but says she is not far and will be back to visit occasionally.
