Chief's Corner: Fire Danger

First of all, I'd again like to thank everyone who came out and supported us at the Firemans Ball and those who generously donated. We can't do it without you.

You will notice that we just moved fire danger to high.

Things are drying fast and we will probably go to very high in the next week or two. Please be careful out there. It wont take much.

With the onset of fire season, please keep your eyes peeled and if you see something, call 911. We rely on everyone to report smoke. We cant be everywhere all the time. We appreciate you helping us out.

We are keeping burning in Lincoln open till June 30. With that being said, please be careful. Remember, you light it, it's yours and you are financially responsible for any damage it causes.

Burning is closed in the Helena and Wolf Creek areas.

Be safe and always take a shovel and bucket when camping, and always make sure your fire is dead out. Water, stir, water and stir. Make sure it's cold to the touch throughout. Make sure your trailer chains aren't dragging as well, if towing.

Thanks for your help and for being safe.
