The Ponderosa Snow Warriors received a new groomer this year, donated by Glen and Marge Kolve. The new groomer belongs to the snowmobile club and will give them access to two groomers during the winter season, which will help the club maintain and potentially increase their funding. "The majority of our funding is tied to groomer hours. The state owns the groomer that we have right now. When Gordy goes out, he gets paid for running on the trail system. We get reimbursed for...
A dead deer near the bridge had drew severalTurkey vultures to the area just north of the Blackfoot River near the Stemple Pass Road Bridge. A quick count revealed at least 15 vultures in a pair of cottonwoods, across the road from the deer carcass, with more perched in the trees to the south of the river. Turkey Vultures are a common sight in the skies around Lincoln and are easily identifiable by their two toned brown and gray wings while soaring. In a nod to their...

"A young team having fun" is how Coach Kurtis summed up the Saturday night volleyball match of his Varsity Lynx against perennial powerhouse Seeley Lake. Three new freshman hitters are finding their place among the Lady Lynx volleyball family, steered by veteran senior co-captains Jenna Templeton and Andrea LeManna. It takes awhile to unite as a family, but after a good showing against Granite on Thursday, a contest where the Lynx won some sets, the building blocks for future...
The Lincoln Lynx Volleyball team played their first home game of the season Friday, Sept. 3 against the Granite High Prospectors from Philipsburg. The first set of the game saw the Lincoln team fall to the Prospectors 10-25, but a rally by the young team that began late in the first set carried on into the second, with Lincoln scoring the first point. Although the set ended with Granite beating the Lynx 25-16, the Lincoln ladies kept up the pressure in the third set, earning...
Grizzly bears have the potential to be found anywhere in the western two-thirds of Montana (west of Billings), and their distribution is denser and more widespread than in previous years. Some areas with dense concentrations of grizzly bears are very accessible to hunters, especially during the archery season. Keep these precautions in mind when hunting in grizzly country: Carry and know how to use bear spray. Keep it within easy reach and be prepared to use it immediately....

Lewis and Clark County 911 Center received forty-five calls for service during the week of Aug. 29 to Sept. 4, 2021 in the Lincoln area. Nineteen of those calls for service were traffic stops performed by deputies. The investigation is on-going. Aug. 31, a deputy responded to a cold domestic in the...
Sometimes we forget how much we miss doing something we love - and how good for us it is to do those things. This past week I was reminded of just how good for my soul some of those things are, and that people care. Earlier in the year, I was invited to a birthday party and met someone I just clicked with. She and I have birthdays fairly close to one another - along with several other people in this town. While we don’t see each other very often, when we do, we just chat, p...
Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terror attacks that cost the lives of 2,997 Americans. The attacks in New York and Washington DC were more than 2000 miles away from Montana, but they brought the country together in a way that seems almost impossible today. The BVD talked to several people around Lincoln about their thoughts 20 years later. People who are old enough to remember the morning of Sept.11, 2001 can tell you exactly where they...
